Embracing Change
Despite the rain, I found myself doing a little cheer earlier this week. The arrival of spring on the calendar felt like manna to my hungry spirit. What a long winter this has been for us. As winter came to an end this year, we also said goodbye to one of our dear friends, Jacq.
I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my last conversations with him, talking with him about being part of that great communion of saints that we meet at the Table each time we come to take communion. I’ve thought about it for the past two weeks when I’ve stepped forward to receive the bread and the juice.
Together at the Table, Now and Always
I wonder if you ever think of those who have gone before you when you come forward. Who might be meeting you at that Table, and who might be glad to dwell in that moment with you?
One of the gifts of faith is the awareness that death really has no power over us or our relationships. As we move closer to Holy Week and Easter Sunday, I hope you feel that truth. Our perishable bodies will one day take on an imperishable form, but we will always belong to one another in Christ and through Christ.
Prayers for you in Lenten ponderings and your Easter hope!
Lenten Blessings to you all,
Leigh
